What can a life coach do for you?

Well, the answer to that question depends entirely on you and the choice of coach you make. Many coaches focus on particular ‘problem areas’, such as poor presentation and communication skills, or difficulties caused by procrastination. They use set tools to ‘fix’ whatever the clients say is wrong with them. I do not believe in this approach—if it were that easy, people wouldn’t need any outsider to help them. They could buy the self-help book and get on with it themselves.

I believe that good coaches offer their clients a safe, yet challenging, environment in which they can explore their feelings and work out what’s troubling them with the help of objective, non-judgmental, input. I see my role as a coach to:

t try to really understand you and the issues you are struggling with
t help you regain and maintain self-confidence, self-acceptance and self-belief
t encourage you to acknowledge your core strengths
t examine your goals, interests and choices
t explore real and perceived stumbling blocks to progress
t help you achieve a sense of purpose
t help you live a fulfilled and authentic life
